Dr. Keiko I. Powers is currently Senior Manager of Corporate Research at J.D. Power and Associates. She joined JDPA in 1999. Prior to JDPA, she worked at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management as an Associate Researcher conducting various academic and marketing research projects in consumer behavior, market response modeling, and public policy. With over 20 years of experience in conducting and coordinating quantitative analysis, marketing research/consulting on advanced statistical analysis and data mining, Dr. Powers will moderate the topic on Statistical Analysis/Data Mining. She has been a regular presenter of research findings at various academic/professional conferences and has served as Vice President for Professional Affairs, Southern California Chapter of American Statistical Association for two years. She has a Ph.D. in quantitative psychology from UCLA.

Wendy Kheel is currently Director of Strategic Insights for Universal Studios Hollywood. Kheel joined Universal in 2000. Her experience at Universal includes directing all consumer research, influencing the strategic objectives of Universal Studios Hollywood, brand positioning, tracking studies, tracking competitive activity, conducting market share/penetration analysis, project management; selection and direction of research suppliers; partnering with other business units including park operations, strategic planning, sales, marketing and communication of research results and strategic implications to senior management. Before Universal, Kheel held the position of Director of Market Research for Walt Disney Imagineering where she directed all market research, supported the creative and strategic development of Walt Disney Imagineering projects and evaluated guest satisfaction of completed projects. Her duties also included consumer research, concept testing, guest satisfaction analysis, international concept testing, cultural identification, competitive industry tracking, strategic brand management. With an education from Cornell and a savvy for research Kheel will moderate the topic on Internet-Based Survey Software Platforms.

Tony Blass has worked in the field of qualitative marketing research for 30 years and is currently the President of Field Dynamics Marketing Research. Tony is a RIVA-trained moderator, depth interviewer and ethnographer. He will moderate on the topic of Using New Media to Increase the Impact of Qualitative Reporting. His specialty is conducting research projects for international companies looking to improve their understanding of, communication with and performance in such US markets as fashion, wine and spirits, packaged goods, automotive, as well as consumer, medical and business to business electronics. Tony is currently President of the Southern California Marketing Research Association. He has also served on the board of directors for the Southern California American Marketing Association (for which he received the Ford Sammis Award in 1993), Miracles of Hope and the Winnetka AYSO. He has been a featured speaker for various business and civic organizations, including the “Under Our Wings” conference on juvenile justice with keynote speaker Martin Luther King III. Tony was chosen as a finalist for the Roy W. Becker is a Senior Research Manager who supports Yahoo!’s Global Sales Team—a team of Yahoo! sales executives helping advertisers craft coordinated global online advertising strategies. Nichole assists in this effort by conducting original research on consumers’ online behavior as well as providing secondary data and insights that form the foundation for the recommended advertising strategies. Prior to her current position, Nichole supported Yahoo!’s Search Marketing division through original research at the international level on the topics of: online advertising use and spend, motivations and barriers to using paid search in developing countries, and the role of search engines in consumer purchases. Nichole has over 18 years experience conducting and applying primary and secondary research to business issues. She began her career conducting macroeconomic forecasting and risk assessment for the US Federal government, and spent several years with research agencies conducting custom research for multi-national conglomerates such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, IBM, Visa and American Express.
By the end of the event, the moderators will provide the whole group feed back as to the type of discuss that transpired at each table and any techniques, strategies and skill sets that could give you a powerful competitive advantage.
