There’s No Business That’s Just Show Business: The Ins and Outs, and Highs and Lows, of Entertainment Marketing
Marketing’s tough. You can be handed a great product or a bad one and it makes no difference: you’ve got to bring it to market with the best strategy, research and creative resources you can muster and hope you succeed. You watch and wait and, inexplicably, sometimes despite your best efforts, great products fail. And mediocre ones actually succeed . . . at first.
Think it’s any different in the world of show business? Sitting here in the entertainment center of the universe, chances are you know the answer is no. Get the true inside story by joining the Southern California American Marketing Association and Allyson Terry-Goldsby, Vice President, Marketing for Sony Pictures Television for dinner and some great networking on Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m., at Cinespace, right in the middle of Hollywood (where better?) as Allyson takes us on a stroll through a day in the life of one of the highest-profile entertainment studio marketing departments in the business and shares what she’s learned about the bedrock importance – even in the exciting, electric, hyper-media world of Tinseltown – of knowing your target audience, doing your research and sticking to your creative brief. And not falling in love with your dazzling promotion unless you know it’s right. You’ll see some great creative, and some that’s not so great, for shows you’ll never forget . . . and some you may no longer remember. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll eat. You’ll network. You’ll marvel at your surroundings. And we think you’ll learn.
